Alex Fisher is the proprietor of WASP Security of Sheffield and has provided the technical security provision to the Trust for the past ten years. He is considered a friend of the security team at the Hospital, always willing to go that extra mile to provide a secure and safe environment for patients and staff. WASP provide a 24/7 service which has been underpinned by his attendance at numerous exceptional service incidents.
‘Alex has always been a very keen supporter of the Hospital Charity, he is an absolute pleasure to be associated with and is a contractor/provider who always puts the NHS and patients first’.
Alex Fisher, Technical Engineer from WASP Security said “When I was first asked to sponsor and present a Heart Award, I actually thought it was an “Art Award”, which conjured up visions of travelling to Hollywood, rubbing shoulders with Jennifer Lawrence, Patrick Stewart or Ian McKellen.
I soon discovered, however, this award is actually to be presented to far more important people than mere actors, celebrities or cinematic superstars; it is for people who change, improve or, in some cases, save lives on a daily basis. So, I’m more than happy to be doing what I see as my fair share of contributing towards recognising these real life unsung heroes.”
Barnsley Hospital Charity exists to support care that goes above and beyond, and it is this level of dedication that we’re recognising on the night of our Heart Awards. We want to recognise our fantastic staff and volunteers for the amazing work they do every year. Lying at the heart of our community, the hospital touches every person in Barnsley at some point in their life.
If like Wasp Security Ltd you would like to sponsor an Award at this fantastic event, the charity would love to hear from you. Sponsorship’s will be limited and offered at a first come, first served basis, permitting sufficient time to place your corporate logo on all promised marketing items and press coverage.
The Heart Awards provide a unique opportunity to affiliate your business not only with the hospital itself, but with the charity that supports it. If you would like to take advantage of this amazing opportunity please get in touch with Barnsley Hospital Charity on 01226 431650 or email Barnsleyhospitalcharity@nhs.net.

Kate leads the way for The Well at Great North Run
Lead Complementary Therapist at The Well for Wellbeing, Kate Cadwell is taking to the streets of Newcastle to raise much needed funds for The Well.
The Great North Run is the largest half marathon in the world, taking place annually in North East England each September. Kate will take on the 13.1 mile route for the second time and is hoping to beat her personal best.
Why has Kate chosen The Well?
As Kate is the Lead Complementary Therapist at The Well, this is the reason she has chosen to raise funds for this wonderful cause. The Well at The Core is a service for people affected by cancer in Barnsley, providing six free beauty and complementary therapies for both men and women. Therapies are delivered by appropriately trained, skilled and experienced practitioners who offer a range of therapies which promote health and well-being. Although partly funded by the government, this funding does not cover the full cost of keeping this service running therefore The Well also heavily relies on the donations received from their local community. Therefore, Kate has decided it is her turn to act!
Kate said “After only running for 3 years, in 5 weeks time I will be undertaking the famous Great North Run, alongside Mo Farrar (I wish!) for the second time! This massive event in the running calendar is undertaken by many hoping to raise a few pounds for their chosen charity, so this year I have chosen The Well.”
“As a therapist at The Well for Wellbeing at The Core, I know how much support it provides for patients in Barnsley who have had a cancer diagnosis. Providing therapeutic support from diagnosis, through treatment & beyond the Well is a safe space for patients to come, relax and leave their worries behind, whilst our expert team of therapists offer treatments and self help support to allow them to live as normally as possible during what can be a very traumatic time. Partially funded by the NHS/CCG it would be great to contribute to the running of this much needed & well used service.”
“Running 13.1 miles is no mean feat for me, so please donate to help keep me going… every little helps!”
