Barnsley Hospital has taken on a unique approach to raising money for the Tiny Hearts Appeal. The hospital has installed an incubator to act as an extra large collection tin in the main reception.
The incubator was recently donated by Dragor Medical UK Limited and has been altered and secured by Paul Nicholes, Specialist Medical Engineering Technician at Barnsley Hospital. The incubator is now being used as a visual for the Tiny Hearts Appeal. It aims to raise the profile and encourage patients, visitors and staff to donate to the very special appeal.
The incubator was installed this week and has already received lots of donations from the very generous Barnsley community. Branded signage and a totaliser frames the incubator which is lit up by LED lights to draw attention and raise awareness of the appeal. If you are visiting the hospital, please keep a lookout for the incubator in the main reception.
The Tiny Hearts Appeal is a capital appeal which aims to raise £1 million to support the development of a new special care baby unit, which will be located alongside the Barnsley Birthing Centre at Barnsley Hospital. The brand new building will feature state-of-the-art equipment to enable the Neonatal team to continue their fantastic care and enhance their environment.
Diane Wake, Chief Executive at Barnsley Hospital, said: “We are exceptionally grateful to have received the incubator, this is a big achievement for the appeal. The incubator was installed only a few days ago and we have already received many donations from patients, visitors and staff members.
I think that having the visual aid located on site will really help to raise awareness of this fantastic appeal and I would like to take this opportunity to encourage the generous people of Barnsley continue supporting the appeal and help build a brand new home for Barnsley’s special care babies.”
